|B.M Birla Planetorium will arrange telescopes at Periyar Science and Technology Centre, Gandhi Mandapam Road for viewing the moon on April 4 at 6.30 p.m.
Total eclipse of the Moon will take place on April 4.
During this eclipse the Moon will get darker and then take on a rusty or blood red colour. Partial phase of this eclipse will be visible in Chennai. Call the Planetorium at 24918787.
|Gandhi Nagar resident awarded Fellowship|
|Anbu Arumugam, a resident of Gandhi Nagar was honoured as a Founders Fellow of the prestigious American Society for Public Administration (ASPA). The 76th Annual Conference of the Society was held in Chicago, USA from March 6 to 10. Nearly 1200 delegates in the field of public Administration attended the conference. Anbu is the only scholar from Tamil Nadu who has attended this conference two years in a row.
She presented her paper titled “Social Protection for Food Security – A Study of Mid-Day Meal Scheme in India”.
Anbu is the Assistant Professor, Department of Public Administration, and Officer-in-Charge, Directorate of Distance Education, Annamalai University. |Campaign for road safety|
|Traffic awareness campaign will be conducted at Thiruvanmiyur and Sholinganallur signals on Mar.29 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.
The event is spearheaded by ‘Thozhan’, a group who have been doing such drives since 2013 on the last Sunday of every month. This week’s event will be led by women as a tribute to Women’s Day. Those interested are welcome to join hands.

|Karate champion from Adyar|
N.Harsha, a resident of Besant Nagar, bagged gold medal in the ‘KAI National Karate Championship’ in the women senior kumite-55 kgs category in Delhi. Around 700 participants took part in 15 categories in the tournament conducted by Karate Association of India. This 22-year old will be flying to Japan in September this year to represent the country in the tournament conducted by Asian Karate Federation. She will also participate this year in the Commonwealth and South Asian Karate Championships. Her father is a MTC bus driver and mother is a homemaker. She has been trained by Shihan M.Babu and Shihan S.Ravi at Colt Institute of Karate and Holistic Health since she was 10 years old. She strives hard to win the world championship. The founder of this initiative,
