Adyar Times was established in Chennai in the year 1993, founded by Mr.S.P.Ambrose, IAS (Retd.). The concept of a newspaper for the neighbourhood was a novel idea then. The English weekly (Sunday) now boasts a circulation of 42000 copies with an average of 16 pages per issue.

Adyar is a large neighbourhood in south Chennai, Tamilnadu, India. It is located on the southern banks of the Adyar river. We, at Adyar Times, cater to news related to this Adyar neighbourhood including Kotturpuram, Gandhi Nagar, Kasturba Nagar, Indira Nagar, Sastri Nagar, Besant Nagar, Thiruvanmiyur, ECR and OMR, etc. Our policy keeps us away from political and partisan issues.
