As part of the ‘Need of the hour’ initiative, 10th-grade students from Akshar Arbol International School, ECR – P. Kirthik Sai Mouli, Patrina Jenaras, Dhruv Arvind, Kimaya Arun and Anjana Vishnu Raman, conducted a flood awareness program at Panchayat Middle School in Mootaikaran Chavadi.
This educational outreach, aimed at raising awareness and reducing the risk of flooding, was coordinated by Rtn.Liji (President), Gopi Ramu (Chairman – Public Image), Rotarians of Rotary Club of Madras Ashoknagar, and the faculty of Akshar Arbol and the Panchayat School.
The project was meticulously structured by the students around an informative presentation and an engaging interactive activity. Kirthik and Patrina led the presentation in Tamil and covered the causes of flooding, safety measures, and the importance of community preparedness.
Simultaneously, Dhruv Arvind, Kimaya Arun, and Anjana Vishnu Raman interviewed a teacher from Panchayat Middle School, which provided valuable insights about flood preparedness. The highlight of the day was the interactive activity conducted by the entire team, designed to reinforce the information shared during the presentation. The joy and eagerness of the children were palpable, making it clear that the objective of creating an interactive and engaging experience had been successfully achieved.
“The event not only met its objective of educating young students about flood risks and safety but also fostered a spirit of collaboration and community engagement,” said a statement from the school.
