New women-only buses launched to boost connectivity in Chennai suburbs

To improve travel options for women passengers heading to Kilambakkam, new women’s ‘Vidiyal Payana’ bus services were inaugurated on Apr.25 at Meenambakkam by the Minister for Transport, S.S.Sivasankar, and the Minister for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises and Tamil Nadu Urban Habitat Development Board, T.M.Anbarasan. 

These services connect Adambakkam to the Kalaignar Centenary Bus Terminus (KCBT) in Kilambakkam, Tambaram to South Malayambakkam, and Anagaputhur to Broadway.

The new bus routes are:

  • Route No. 66M: Tambaram to South Malayambakkam (via Pallavaram, Anagaputhur, Kundrathur, Kollachery, 400 Feet Road, Malayambakkam).
  • Route No. 18S: Adambakkam NGO Colony Bus Stand to Kilambakkam (via Kakkan Bridge, Brindavan Nagar, Vanuvampet, Thillai Ganga Nagar, Meenambakkam, Tambaram).
  • Route No. 60: Anagaputhur to Broadway (via Pallavaram, Meenambakkam, Guindy, Saidapet, Nandanam, Teynampet).
