As part of its Diamond Jubilee celebrations, CSIR-Structural Engineering Research Centre (CSIR-SERC), Taramani, organised the i-MAP 2025 Conference on Monitoring, Assessment and Predictive Maintenance of Critical Infrastructure from May 21 to 23.
The conference was inaugurated on May 21 by chief guest Ravindra Kumar Goel – Principal Executive Director (Bridges), Ministry of Railways and guest of honour T. Archunan – Director (Projects), Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL).
Dr. Srinivas Voggu – Chief Scientist (CSIR-SERC), outlined the event’s vision aligned with national infrastructure missions. Dr. N. Anandavalli – Director (CSIR-SERC), highlighted the evolution of structural health monitoring (SHM), innovations in dam monitoring, and called for interdisciplinary collaboration.
Goel delivered the keynote on Indian Railways’ bridge infrastructure, noting that over 34,000 bridges are more than 100 years old, stressing the importance of cost-effective SHM and academic partnerships. Archunan emphasised the need to bridge the gap between R&D and field implementation in India.
The i-MAP 2025 Proceedings were released, and the exhibition pavilion was virtually and physically inaugurated. Dr. Saptarshi Sasmal proposed the vote of thanks.
