Governor’s Awards 2025: Nominations Open for Social Service & Environment

The Governor of Tamil Nadu, R.N. Ravi, has announced the opening of nominations for the Governor’s Awards 2025 to honour outstanding contributions in Social Service and Environmental Protection.

A total of eight awards will be given — four in each category. Institutional winners (one per category) will receive ₹5 lakhs, and individual winners (three per category) will get ₹2 lakhs each, along with citations. Priority will be given to unsung contributors who haven’t received state-level honours.

Applicants or nominees must demonstrate impactful service within Tamil Nadu for a minimum of 10 years. NGOs, institutions, and individuals can apply or be nominated by senior officials, Padma awardees, Vice-Chancellors, or Collectors.

Adyar Times was established in Chennai in the year 1993, founded by Mr.S.P.Ambrose, IAS (Retd.). The concept of a newspaper for the neighbourhood was a novel idea then. The English weekly (Sunday) now boasts a circulation of 42000 copies with an average of 16 pages per issue.
