Traffic Diversion in Chennai for Independence Day parade rehearsal

The Greater Chennai Traffic Police has announced the following traffic diversions in view of the Independence Day Parade practice
on Aug. 5, 9 and 13:

  • No entry for vehicles into Kamarajar Salai (between Labour Statue to RBI Subway and Rajaji Sala and Flag Staff Road);
  • To reach Parrys Corner from Rajaji Salai, take a diversion via Wallajah Salai, Anna Salai, Muthusamy Bridge, Muthusamy Road, R.A. Mandram and NFS Road;
  • To reach Kamaraj Salai from the Secretariat, take a diversion via Parrys Corner, NFS Road, R.A. Mandram, Muthusamy Road, Muthusamy Bridge, Anna Salai and Wallajah Road;
  • To reach Parrys Corner from Flag Staff Road, take a diversion via Muthusamy Bridge, Muthusamy Road, R.A. Mandram, NFS Road;
  • To reach  Kamarajar Salai from Flag Staff Road, take a diversion via Anna Salai, Wallajah Road.
 Vehicles coming before 8.30 amVehicles coming after  8.30 am
Red and
Purple Passes
Invitee vehicles will take Rajaji Salai and alight outside Secretariat’s In gate; Parking inside Secretariat.Invitee vehicles will take the route via Labour Statue, Wallajah Road, Anna Statue, Anna Salai, Wallajah Point, Muthusamy Point, R.A.Mandram NFS Road, Parrys Corner and RBI subway. Parking at PWD ground.
Blue and Pink  PassesInvitees vehicles will take the route via Rajaji Salai, War Memorial Flag Staff Road, Wallajah Point, Muthusamy Road, NFS Road, Parrys Corner and RBI subway to reach Secretariat’s Out Gate for disembarkation.Invitees vehicles will take the route via Wallajah Salai, Anna Statue, Anna Salai, Wallajah Point, Muthusamy Salai, NFS Road, Parrys Corner and RBI subway to reach Secretariat’s Out Gate Out for disembarkation. Parking at PWD ground. (Opposite Secretariat).
Without PassesThose vehicles without passes will alight near War Memorial and the vehicles will be allowed to park inside Island Ground.
