UNICEF along with Footprint conducts a children’s film festival every year. In order to equip the children to make short films, they conducted a capacity building and content dissemination program in many of the schools across the country.
One such programme was conducted from Dec.5 to Dec.9, 2022 at A.M.M. School, Kotturpuram. At the end of the workshop, each of the 13 participants of the school made and presented a short film or podcast about issues related to children.
The all-India Footprint film festival was conducted by UNICEF at the IGNCA auditorium in New Delhi on July 1. UNICEF analysed the films and podcasts, sent by participants all over India, and selected 65 films/podcasts to be screened at the 4th Footprint festival for the young filmmakers.
The films/podcasts of A.M.M. School students V.Ruthvika, Aryan Ghosh, Harini Pritiyanhira of Class XI and B.Aswath, Sidarth Arun, Chaitanya and R.Harshad of Class X were seven of the 65 films screened in the festival. Films/podcasts of V.Ruthivika, Aryan Ghosh and Harini Pritiyanhira went on to the final 19 films.
Three films out of 19 were chosen as prize winning films. The students of A.M.M. School brought laurels to the institution by winning the first two prizes. Short film by V.Ruthvika and podcast of Aryan Ghosh, both belonging to Class XI, won the first and second places respectively. It was a proud moment for the school when the students won accolades in a national forum. Students of 40 schools all over India were vying for the honour.
Ruthvika’s film FRIENDS is about the budding of a heart-warming friendship between a rich kid and a poor kid. Aryan Ghosh had done a podcast about menstrual hygiene. B.Ashwath and Sidarth Arun of Class X who attended the Film festival in Delhi got the prizes on behalf of Ruthvika and Aryan Ghosh. They also participated in the ‘on the spot quiz competition’ and won first place. S.Ashwanth of Class XI won a participation certificate in the on the spot one minute video making competition titled “I am unique”.
It was indeed an illustrious moment for the school as well as the winners, to be the first among hundreds of films done by young aspiring students.
On behalf of the school, the PrincipalMahalakshmi thanked V.R.Devika of ‘The Aseema Trust’, for introducing this program to A.M.M. school.
