Avvai Home, an esteemed educational institution, marked its Founders Day on July 30, the birthday of Dr. Muthulakshmi Reddy, a trailblazing leader. Dr. Muthulakshmi Reddy was a renowned social reformer, physician, and politician whose dedication to the empowerment of women significantly influenced Indian society. She was instrumental in establishing Avvai Home, which aims to provide education and dignity to underprivileged women and children.

The celebration was graced by Rtn. V.Subramaniam – Director of Youth Services at the Rotary Club of Madras Coromandel, who has long supported the institution.

The campus was beautifully decorated with banners, rangoli designs, flowers, and balloons, creating a festive atmosphere. The students eloquently spoke about Dr. Muthulakshmi Reddy’s life and legacy, and concluded by expressing their duty to carry forward her ethos by contributing positively to the community. The celebration also provided an opportunity for alumni to reconnect and share their experiences since leaving Avvai Home School.

Rtn Subramaniam delivered an inspiring keynote address and encouraged students to pursue lifelong learning and uphold core values. A special segment of the event was dedicated to recognizing the meritorious students and teachers. Additionally, teachers who contributed to the school’s consistent record of 100% pass percentages were lauded for their dedication and hard work.

The cultural program featured a variety of performances, including dance by primary students, songs, Parai with Bharatanatyam dance, and a mime act that depicted the challenges faced by uneducated women and highlighted the transformative power of education.
