As part of the National Eye Donation Fortnight (Aug 25 to Sep 8) celebrations, an eye donation awareness rally conducted by Rotary Rajan Eye Bank (RREB), Rajan Eye Care Hospital (RECH), Rotary Club of Madras T.Nagar, RCMT (under the aegis of TNOA and MCOA).
More than 1500 people including students, Rotaractors, Rotarians doctors, well-wishers, differently-abled persons, RECH staff and the public participated in the rally, held at Elliot’s Beach. Actress Suhasini Manirathnam flagged off the rally and pledged her eyes in the presence of guests of honour, Dr. Arulmozhivarman – President of TNOA, Rtn.Mahaveer Bothra – Dist Governor R.I Dist 3233 and Rtn.Narendra Srisrimal – President of RCMT. “Give the gift of sight, donate eyes. Do not burn them, do not bury them. There is life after death,” said a message from the Rotary.
