Odyssey in Adyar, Chennai’s leading lifestyle store for books, gifts, toys, and more, hosted the India Poetry Circle (IPC) on Mar.15 for an evening of poetry readings and a book launch.
Poet, author, and IPC’s founder, Jairam Seshadri along with Shreekumar Varma — novelist, poet, columnist, playwright, and reviewer launched Anju Kishore’s second book of poems, ‘My Conversations with God, Life, and Death’. The book is published by Authors Press, Delhi. The first copy was received by noted poet Sivakami Velliangiri. The event was attended by poets from IPC who also read from the book.
The book is available for purchase on Amazon as well as in Odyssey.
The book launch was followed by IPC’s monthly ‘Open mic’. Poets old and young, established and budding, rendered their own poems on a wide variety of themes to an enthusiastic audience. Visitors to the bookstore also looked in and spent some time experiencing a poetry meet.
A dozen bookmarks were designed by Odyssey, with attractive captions coined by the poets from IPC. A collage, featuring the bookmarks, was released by poet, author and philanthropist Sundar Rajan, of IPC and a resident of Thiruvanmiyur. These bookmarks will be formally distributed on World Poetry Day (Mar.21).
IPC will be hosting such events every 3rd Saturday of the month in collaboration with Odyssey. Interested poets may contact Jairam Seshadri on 98844 45498 for participation.
