In a vibrant tribute to the city, Chennai-based band Thisram has released their new Carnatic fusion song, ‘Chennai Namma Ooru’, on Madras Day 2025. The track is described as a heartfelt celebration of the city’s spirit, blending traditional Carnatic elements with modern grooves.

Thisram, a seven-piece band, is composed of three female vocalists, a beatboxer, a bassist, a percussionist, and a keyboardist. The band, which originated in the neighbourhoods of Besant Nagar, Sastri Nagar, and Adyar, is known for its contemporary fusion style, which seamlessly blends various genres while maintaining strong roots in Indian classical music.
