Chennai Vizha extended till May 21

Chennai Vizha 2023, an event that celebrates the cultural heritage and unique crafts of India, and acknowledges the artisans globally, will be open to visitors till May 21.

Organized by the Department of Tourism, Government of Tamil Nadu, the festival venue will be divided into zones based on the stalls and will have artisans participating from Bangladesh, Bhutan, Iran, Kyrgyzstan, Nepal, Nigeria, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Uganda, and Uzbekistan. There are about 80 crafts registered with the GI tag (geographical indication) handicrafts that will be displayed during the festival.

The visitors can meet and interact with local artisans who will be demonstrating their skills and techniques and can purchase unique and authentic handicrafts directly from them. Food stalls displaying a wide range of street foods, and cultural performances will be also held simultaneously.
