Heralding the International year of the millets, Vidya Ratna P.T.S. Matriculation Higher Secondary School, celebrated an eco-friendly ‘Millets Day’ on July 14. Salai Vadamalai, an entrepreneur who specialises in producing value added products of the millets and founder of Kukky’ Millets biscuits, presided over the function and sowed the seed of awareness on millets.

A ‘Millets Rally’ was conducted by the primary students. Music, dance and drama elucidating the importance of millets in our diet and in rejuvenating the soil and how they contribute to the sustenance of our environment, were held.

Adyar Times was established in Chennai in the year 1993, founded by Mr.S.P.Ambrose, IAS (Retd.). The concept of a newspaper for the neighbourhood was a novel idea then. The English weekly (Sunday) now boasts a circulation of 42000 copies with an average of 16 pages per issue.
