Celebrations at Vidya Ratna school
When valour meets victory, it is a joyous occasion for the achievers as well as the onlookers. It was a twin celebration for Vidya Ratna P.T.S Matric. Hr. Sec. School on Aug.15, when along with the nation the school celebrated the Independence Day and the school’s Silver Jubilee year Sports Day together.
Siddarth K.Raj, IRPS, Chairman, Indian Railways Recruitment Board, hoisted the National Flag and lit the Olympic torch. S.Sivakumar, Honorary Chairman, Sub-Committee of the league, Tamilnadu Cricket Association, hoisted the school flag and declared the sports meet open. Together they honoured the winners with trophies, certificates and medals for various events conducted by the school. The cultural events and the mega drill involving 180 students were awe inspiring and entertaining.
Independence Day celebration at NIEPMD
NIEPMD celebrated Independence Day with week-long programmes from Aug.9 to Aug.15 for Person with Disabilities (PwDs), HRD students and parents of PwDs.
The celebrations included: (Aug.9) Sports meet event for HRD students viz. carrom, throwball and shotput; (Aug.11) Slogan writing and essay writing competition for parents of PwDs and HRD students; (Aug.13 – 15) The Har Ghar Tiranga campaign was observed by employees of NIEPMD hoisting National Flag in their premises; (Aug.15) Cultural programs performed by PwDs and HRD students, and Nachiketa Rout, Director, hoisted the Tricolor, delivered the Independence day address and also distributed prizes to the winners of the competition.
Independence Day celebrations with school students
Dream India Education and Charitable Trust, Indira Nagar, celebrated Independence Day with the 350 government high school children from rural village of Vaiyavoor, Periyanatham, and 150 special children of Vasantham Special School, Mogappair.
Post the hoisting of the National Flag, the children participated in the day-long event that saw them display their wonderful talent in elocution, essay, drawing, Thirukkural, quiz competitions and cultural events. Children also participated in fancy dress competitions bringing various national leaders on to the stage.
Books, medals and trophies were handed over as prizes for the children. Special lunch and snacks were arranged to make the day much more special for the children.
During the event, Dream India team also honoured the first 3 rank holders of the recently concluded 10th exam by cash awards of 3000, 2000 and 1000 respectively.
ADF conducts cultural events
Appayya Dikshita Foundation (ADF), Kottivakkam, organised cultural activities for destitute children at Delfina Orphanage Home, Panayur, to celebrate Independence Day. ADF hosted breakfast, lunch and dinner for the children, besides providing a month’s ration of rice bags and other essentials.
They also celebrated the day at Nandhinee Aged Home, Neelankarai and Sri Sankara Free Home for Senior Citizens, Pandithamedu, OMR. A Bharatanatyam skit was organised at the venues for the senior citizens. The skit was enacted by Tanya Mandyam and Radhika Patil, disciples of Divya Devaguptapu, from Besant Nagar.
Avvai Home School celebrates Independence Day with pride
Avvai Home School celebrated Independence Day with great enthusiasm and patriotic fervour. The celebration commenced with the chief guest, Srikanth Anandal, Community Service Director of the Rotary Club of Guindy, hoisting the National Flag. The event saw participation from students, teachers, parents, and members of the school’s management.
The chief guest delivered an impactful speech encouraging the students to contribute positively to the nation. In the context of a nation’s journey, he emphasised sustained effort, dedication, and resilience as crucial elements in achieving lasting progress.
The event showcased a variety of engaging programs, including an inspiring speech on freedom fighters, a captivating mime that vividly portrayed the life of a soldier, and a dance performance conveying the theme of the flag.
The school also honoured students who had won prizes outside the school. Also, Students from Avvai Home school secured first place in a folk dance inter school competition held at St. Michelle’s school on 5 th August, where they competed against 20 other schools. Adding to the pride, S. Sathya Sree, one of the students, clinched the first place in an inter-district “Gramia Kalai Nadanam” dance solo competition conducted by the government on 12th August. Her remarkable achievement has earned her a spot at the state level competition.
Celebrations at KV IIT (48 Independence KVIIT)
Kendriya Vidyalaya IIT celebrated Independence Day, highlighting the theme ‘Nation First, Always First’. The National Flag was hoisted by chief guest T.Padmaja, PRT. The Assembly ground reverberated with pride and love for the motherland as the gathering sang in unison the National Anthem, Flag Song and Vande Matharam.
Students of Secondary, Primary and Balvatika gave inspiring speeches in Hindi and English. The cultural programme included group song, group dance, mime which brought history to life, costumes of different states displayed by Balvatika students, Karate and instrumental fusion. The School Pupil Leader S.Aarushi administered the ‘Panch Pran’ pledge. Prizes were distributed to the winners of the Spell Bee.
The chief guest asked the students to work with dedication, hardwork and sincerity, in any work that they do. Principal Dr.M.Manickasamy emphasised that the youth of the nation are the torch bearers of the nation’s Vision. Vice Principal Shri. Rajesh Kumar Mishra gave the vote of thanks.
A day of celebrations at KNRA (48 Independence KB Nagar)
The Kasturba Nagar Residents Association (KNRA) made elaborate arrangements to celebrate Independence Day. In the morning the flag was hoisted by their former President and super senior citizen K.Mallikarjuna Rao. In his speech he recalled the sacrifices made by many people during the freedom struggle and requested the younger generation to work for unity irrespective of caste, creed and religion.
In the evening, a Carnatic music concert was organised in coordination with Gandhi Nagar resident, musician Sivaram Arunachalam, and his team: Vidushi Sweta Balasubramanian (vocal), Vidushi Sreelakshmi Bhat (Violin), Vidwan Sarvesh Karthik (Mridangam) and Vidwan Mukunda Sai (Kanjeera). Around 75 people attended the music programme.
Independence Day at Plutus Residence
The 15th of August marked the joyous occasion of the celebration of the Independence Day amongst the families of the Plutus Residence, the new 18 storey building by BAASHYAAM constructions on L.B. Road.
There was a line-up of events starting from the flag hoisting in the morning by Mr.Venkatraman, a resident, and some entertaining events in the evening for adults and children alike. The icing on the cake was the speech given by Col. Krishnaswamy, a Vir Chakra awardee, who was the chief guest, and also happens to be a resident of the apartment.
