The Kalakshetra Colony Welfare Association (KCWA), as part of its ongoing greening and beautification initiative, has successfully completed painting a large mural on the wall along Arundale Beach Road (abutting Besant School). The project, finished on Oct.11, was executed in collaboration with the Karam Karpom Foundation.

The artistic initiative aims to enhance the walking and driving experience while conveying important social messages to the community. The effort was led by artist Kamla Ravikumar, a KCWA member. Students from the Visual Arts department of Kalakshetra also assisted in the task.

The concepts chosen for the murals were designed to communicate vital awareness messages to students and the neighbourhood, including:

  • Environmental Responsibility: Proper garbage disposal in bins, the importance of tree planting, and overall environmental cleanliness.
  • Wellness and Education: Themes covering effective usage of technology to enhance knowledge and maintain a healthy lifestyle through yoga and other sports activities.

The association believes the new visual spectacle effectively uses art not just for beautification but also for community communication and positive change.
