Montessori Teacher Training from IMTC-Chennai

Admissions are open for the 52nd Primary Montessori Teacher Training Course at the Indian Montessori Training Courses-Chennai. Commencing 10th July 2024, this course will be held on Monday to Thursday, every week, over a duration of 10 months. The curriculum includes theory and practical hands-on work with Montessori materials. Successful candidates will be awarded the Diploma issued by the Indian Montessori Centre (IMC), Bangalore, the apex body for Montessori Teacher training in India. The Directors for this course are Ms. Uma Shanker and Ms. D. Janaki Raja.

IMTC-Chennai was founded by Mrs. Uma Shanker in 1998 and has completed 26 years of teacher training in Chennai with over 1500 students having successfully completed the diploma course. In Tamil Nadu, over 45 Montessori schools have been established by the alumni of IMTC-Chennai. Montessori classrooms at Chennai Schools of Greater Chennai Corporation, have teachers trained at IMTC-Chennai. Mrs. Uma Shaker has the distinction of being the first Director of Training from IMC, Bangalore and she has since mentored 5 other Directors including Mrs. Janaki Raja at IMTC-Erode.IMTC-Chennai’s Montessori teacher training course is a unique opportunity to learn, understand and make a difference in the child’s life. Adyar Times was established in Chennai in the year 1993, founded by Mr.S.P.Ambrose, IAS (Retd.). The concept of a newspaper for the neighbourhood was a novel idea then. The English weekly (Sunday) now boasts a circulation of 42000 copies with an average of 16 pages per issue.
