In a proactive measure to assist citizens during the anticipated heavy rains of the Northeast Monsoon, the Tamil Nadu government has permitted rice cardholders to collect their November 2025 rice quota in advance, during the month of October.

The announcement, made under the state’s Universal Public Distribution System (PDS), allows all rice family cardholders to receive their usual allotment (ranging from 12 kg to 35 kg) immediately.

This facility is available regardless of whether the cardholder has already collected their October rice quota. Those who do not collect their November quota this month will be able to collect it as usual in November.

The government urged all eligible rice cardholders to utilize this special arrangement to ensure they have an adequate stock of provisions ahead of the monsoon period. The PDS currently distributes essential commodities, including rice, wheat, sugar, kerosene, dhal, and palm oil, through all Fair Price Shops to both Priority and Non-Priority Cardholders.
