The old boys association of Rajah Muthiah Higher Secondary School, R.A.Puram, have been contributing their mite to their alma mater. They also wanted their old school to adopt technology for teaching, in line with the trend in other schools. The dream was materialised with the help of Geeta Padmanabhan of RMSM Trust, Thiruvanmiyur, through her overseas contacts. “These kinds of facilities are available nowadays in government and private schools, while the government-aided schools are yet to get formal support,” said the school.
RMSM Trust provided a RAPTOR 75-inch interactive digital smart board, which possesses all modern facilities like sharing online files, accessing online resources and with an inbuilt educational software that can and help in connecting the entire class for a smooth and fun learning experience. This was installed in a classroom renovated by the alumni association with fresh painting, and provision of fans, tube lights, UPS, electrical accessories and refurbished furniture.
The model smart classroom was dedicated to the school on July 25 by Geeta Padmanabhan in the presence of Dr.R.Chandrasekaran – President of R.A.Puram Residents Association (RAPRA), and L.Arumugam – school Secretary.
B.Sundaram – alumni Treasurer, welcomed the gathering and spoke about the importance of technology and learning. Dr.R.Chandrashekharan emphasised the need to use modern tools in the competitive world today and also briefed about the initiative taken by RAPRA for the cause of uplifting the students from poor and vulnerable society in the neighbourhood. The school Headmaster, S.Thirugnanam said this initiative will definitely motivate both the teachers and the students to perform better.
