Adyar Times celebrated its 30th Anniversary this week and wishes poured in from the neighbourhood. Here are some of them:
Thrisam Band
One thing that we look forward to every Sunday is to read through Adyar Times, and that has been a routine for the past so many years. Adyar Times has been our goto newspaper since our childhood and continues to be one of our cherished printed media to know about the current affairs of our locality.
This is Band Thisram’s humble tribute to Adyar Times for its 30th anniversary. We are a six-piece band, comprising members majorly in and around Besant Nagar and Adyar. Presenting our original composition ‘Bharatham Vazhiyave’, composed in an eclectic mix of patriotic Desh and fervent Sindhu Bhairavi ragas, this song is penned as a quick ode to Mother India, to have cradled us, as we look onward.
May India live long and prosper!
Varsha, 12 years
I am Varsha, a regular reader of Adyar Times. I read in Sunday’s newspaper that Adyar Times has completed three decades. Congratulations to the team that made this possible. I read in the article that Adyar Times welcomed suggestions on how to improve the paper. I would like to make a suggestion. I have noticed that most of the students are not in the habit of reading newspapers. Staying conscious of our surroundings is necessary in our daily lives. It would be a great pleasure for our locality if Adyar Times could arrange two pages in the newspaper for kids. The two pages could contain current affairs written by kids below the age of 18. It will develop their current affairs knowledge. The kids can send Adyar Times the current affairs, and if Adyar Times publishes it, it will only develop an interest for them to write more, increasing their knowledge. My idea is that Adyar Times can start publishing the first copy of Adyar Times with the kids section on Children’s Day. The reason why I got this idea is because I myself am a kid of 12, and I know why my friends don’t like to read newspapers.
If my wish is fulfilled, then I promise that I will spread a word about this among my friends. The least I can do to promote Adyar Times as well as the idea of reading newspapers is by sending Adyar Times this email.

Adyar Times is an English weekly in Kotturpuram, Adyar, Besant Nagar and Thiruvanmiyur areas. Kudos to the best team of Mr.Ambrose and Sri.Janakan! Adyar Times is now 30 years young and kicking in our neighbourhood! Its community coverage is the best one; and Classifieds are the most rewarding as many are benefited by it; the Letters section of which I am also a small contributor is a very special forum. Civic issues get solved once it is focused in Adyar Times. At 30 years, Adyar Times’s dedication is Simply Amazing!
Pure Pearls
As a gesture of appreciation, Pure Pearls at Venkatratnam Nagar, gifted all the Adyar Times ladies a lovely pair of ear studs and a bar of chocolate for the men.
