From June 26 to 28 the corridors of Adyar Theosophical Academy buzzed with excitement and innovation as CodeBotix conducted a dynamic robotics workshop for Grades 6 and 7.
The workshop’s primary aim was to introduce young minds to the basics of robotics, circuit building and coding, transforming their abstract ideas into tangible creations. Instructors Shahbaz Ali Khan and Akash, from CodeBotix, ensured that learning was not only informative but also engaging, with fun games and plenty of hands-on activities, making complex concepts accessible and enjoyable. This approach kept the students riveted and eager to experiment with their newfound knowledge.
By the third day, the creativity of the young participants shone brightly. Each group conceptualized and designed their own robots, aimed at solving real-world problems. Among the standout projects were an automated dump truck, an automated classroom broom, a fire-extinguishing robot named ‘Neruppu Chiti’, and ‘Moonlight’ a robot that glowed softly to help children overcome their fear of darkness. Other impressive models included an automatic dustbin, a pet food dispenser, a noise level detector, and a bot that monitored unauthorized WiFi connections.
The diversity and practicality of the robots demonstrated not only the student’s grasp of robotics but also their ability to think critically about everyday challenges. Each presentation highlighted a unique problem and an innovative solution, reflecting the student’s understanding and ingenuity. The workshop was a resounding success, characterized by high energy, collaborative learning, and a palpable sense of achievement. The students left with a wealth of knowledge and a deepened interest in robotics, eagerly looking forward to the possibility of a robotics club at their school.
