With an extended holiday stretch ahead—from April 10 (Thursday, Mahavir Jayanti) to April 14 (Monday, Tamil New Year)—a significant increase in passenger travel is expected from Chennai and other parts of the state. In anticipation of this, the Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation (TNSTC) has announced the operation of special buses to manage the festive travel rush.

To accommodate the surge, special buses will be operated in addition to the regular fleet from various key terminals, especially in Chennai.

    • From Koyambedu to southern and western districts: 95 buses
    • From Madhavaram Bus Terminus, 20 special buses each will be operated on April 11 and 12 to meet increased demand.
  • April 14 (Monday): To facilitate return journeys to Chennai and Bengaluru from native towns, special buses will also be operated from various parts of the state based on travel demand.

With bookings expected to rise further, the TNSTC urges passengers to avoid last-minute congestion by pre-booking their tickets online via www.tnstc.in or through the TNSTC Mobile App. To ensure smooth operations, adequate staff have been deployed at all major bus terminals to monitor and manage passenger flow and services. The public is encouraged to make full use of these special arrangements and enjoy a hassle-free travel experience during the holiday period.
