Tamil Nadu Class 12 Results 2025: Chennai schools shine

The class 12th Board results of the Tamilnadu state were announced on May 8. Minister Anbil Mahesh (Minister for School Education) declared the results after presenting the analysis of the results to Chief Minister M.K.Stalin and Deputy CM Udhaynidhi Stalin. 

This year, a total of 7,92,494 students appeared for the exams, out of which 7,53,142 cleared them, marking an impressive overall pass percentage of 95.03%. The performance of girl students stood out with a pass percentage of 96.70%, compared to 93.16% among boys. The top five districts with the highest pass rates in government schools were Ariyalur, Erode, Tiruppur, Kanyakumari, and Cuddalore.

The state has shown steady progress in board exam results over the past years, rising from 93.76% in 2022 to 95.03% in 2025. Notably, 436 government schools recorded a 100% pass rate, and 91.94% of government school students passed the exam. For students who did not clear the exams, supplementary tests will be held starting June 25, 2025.

Chennai’s corporation schools showcased stellar performance. CGHSS Nungambakkam achieved a 100% pass rate, followed by CHSS Puliyur (Kodambakkam): 98.61%, CHGHS West Saidapet: 97.36%, CHSS Nesapakkam: 97.22%, CHSS Thiruvanmiyur: 95.59%, and CHSS Kolathur: 95.36%.

More than 850 students from Chennai scored above 450 out of 500, and 54 students earned full marks in subjects like Computer Science and Accountancy. The overall pass rate for Chennai Corporation schools rose to 88.12%, up from 87.13% the previous year. Among the 5,387 students who appeared, 4,747 passed, with girls outperforming boys at 91.46% compared to 83.70%.

Wishing all the students, the minister stated, “Warm wishes to all the students who have written the exams. Face the future with great confidence. We are here to support you.”
