Tamil Nadu Sports Development Authority announces admissions to elite sports centers

The Tamil Nadu Sports Development Authority (SDAT) is providing opportunities for school students to excel in sports through its scientifically-backed training programs, accommodation facilities, and nutritious meals at its six premier sports centers.  

The application forms for admissions to these centers are available on the website www.sdat.tn.gov.in starting from April 5, 2025. Students in 6th, 7th, and 8th grades, and under the age of 13, who aspire to join the premier sports centers can apply online.

The deadline for completing and submitting the online applications is April 30, 2025, at 5 pm. Only online applications will be accepted for the selection process.  

For further information, individuals can contact the field information center at the hotline number 95140 00777.  

State-level selection trials for students seeking admission to the premier sports centers will be held on May 2, 2025, from 7 am onwards, at the following venues:  

  • Athletics (Boys & Girls), Boxing (Boys), Weightlifting (Boys): Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Chennai.
  • Tennis (Girls): Nungambakkam Sports Complex, Chennai.  
  • Gymnastics (Boys & Girls), Swimming (Boys & Girls): AGB Swimming Pool Complex, Velachery, Chennai.
  • Archery (Boys), Cycling (Boys & Girls), Badminton (Boys & Girls): TNPESU, Melakottaiyur, Chengalpattu. 

Applicants will be notified of further details via SMS and WhatsApp.  

Eligibility Criteria:

To be eligible, applicants for individual and team sports must have achieved a top-three position in state or district-level Republic Day/Bharathiyar Day sports competitions or events organised by recognised state sports associations. Alternatively, those selected for the Tamil Nadu team and who have participated in national-level competitions conducted by national sports federations, the School Games Federation of India (SGFI), or the Indian Ministry of Sports, as well as those who have participated in recognised international competitions and won medals, and those who have won medals in the Chief Minister’s Cup state and district-level competitions, are also eligible to apply.
