The modernisation of the Thiruvanmiyur Bus Terminus officially commenced on July 12 with a foundation ceremony (bhoomi pooja) organised by the Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority (CMDA).
The initiative is part of many infrastructure development initiatives inaugurated by the Chief Minister on May 20. As part of it, five bus terminuses are to receive an upgrade: Thiruvanmiyur MTC Bus Terminus (Rs.28.25 crore); Ayyapanthangal MTC Bus Terminus (Rs.18.93 crore); Avadi MTC Bus Terminus (Rs.36.06 crore); Padiyanallur MTC Bus Terminus (Rs.10.96 crore); and Vallalar Nagar MTC Bus Terminus (Rs.9.99 crore).
The project was inaugurated by Thamizhachi Thangapandian – MP (South Chennai) and J.M.H. Hasan Moulana – MLA (Velachery) in the presence of ey officials present included G. Prakash, IAS, CMDA Member Secretary/Principal Secretary, and Dr. Prabhu Sean, IAS, Managing Director of the Metropolitan Transport Corporation (MTC), alongside other government officials and local representatives.
