Veterans lead Chennai in mourning Pahalgam attack

Colours of Glory and S Foundation conducted a candlelight vigil on May 1 at Olcott Memorial School, Besant Nagar, in honour of those killed at Pahalgam, by the terrorists. “These people are martyrs. War will put any country 10 years back, but unfortunately, this is what our enemy wants,” highlights Capt.D.P.Ramachandran, Founder of Colours of Glory.

On Apr.22, terrorists had shot 26 tourists at Pahalgam in Kashmir. In response on May 6, India conducted Operation Sindoor, wherein 9 terrorist camps were targeted and destroyed. On May 7, a nationwide war drill was conducted, and from the same night, there has been constant shelling and attacks along all border areas of India. The attacks have been successfully intercepted by the Indian defence.

Capt.Ramachandran, also a 1971 war veteran, was accompanied by Col.Krishnaswamy, also a 1971 war veteran, IB official Krishnaswamy and Rahman from the S Foundation.

As students and the public joined the vigil, Capt.Ramachandran adds, “It was a sentimental moment for everyone in the South, for something that happened in Kashmir.” He also highlighted the ill effects of war, including the influx of refugees. He looked forward to peace in both countries for the sake of the citizens.

As candles lit up the evening sky, it was a silent vow — that the martyrs of Pahalgam will never be forgotten.
