The 23rd Adyar Times FIDE Rated Open Chess Tournament 2025, organised by the Tamil Nadu State Chess Association and sponsored by Adyar Times, will be held from Oct.2 to 5, 2025, at Dhanraj Baid Jain College, Rajiv Gandhi Salai, Okkiyam Thoraipakkam, Chennai.
The tournament will feature eight rounds under the latest FIDE Swiss system rules. Each player will have 90 minutes plus a 30-second increment per move. The event kicks off on Oct.2 with the first two rounds. Rounds 3 and 4 will be held on Oct.3, rounds 5 and 6 on Oct.4, and the final two rounds with the closing ceremony on Oct.5.
With a total cash prize of ₹2.50 lakhs, the tournament promises intense competition. The champion will receive ₹35,000 plus a trophy, while prizes extend up to the 40th position. Additional prizes include Best Women, Best Veteran (60+), and Best Physically Disabled Players, along with category prizes for juniors (Under-8 to Under-18) and rating categories (Unrated to 2000).
