9-Year-old sets Guinness world record for hula hoop spinning

S.Janani Shiva, a 9-year-old student studying in Class 4 at St. Michael’s Academy and a resident of Besant Nagar, earned a place in the Guinness World Records. On May 11, during the Fitness, Nutrition & Sports India Expo held at the Chennai Trade Center, she attempted a world record by spinning the hula hoop around her foot 203 times in one minute while lying prone with her leg bent backwards. 

Janani Shiva’s achievement was officially recognised as a Guinness World Record on Aug.20. For the past two years, Janani has been training at Chennai Hoopers under trainer Vijayalakshmi.
