In a significant boost to public healthcare, the Rotary Club of Madras T. Nagar has donated medical equipment worth Rs.1.27 crores to Voluntary Health Services (VHS), Taramani, a non-profit hospital providing affordable, quality medical care to the underserved.
With support from the MCKS Trust, the donation includes:
- A GE Aisys anaesthesia workstation and patient monitor for the Neurosurgery Department;
- A cell counter and free blood transfusion support for children with Thalassemia;
- A Takagi operating microscope with binocular optics & digital imaging for the Ophthalmology Department;
These advanced tools will enhance diagnostic and surgical capabilities across departments, leading to improved patient outcomes. The equipment was officially handed over on Apr.15 at a ceremony attended by dignitaries, including Praveen Tatia (Member, State Minorities Commission, Tamil Nadu), philanthropist Sugalchand Jain, Rtn. Narendra Srisrimal (President, RCMT), Prof. Suresh S. (Hon. Secretary, VHS), and several Rotary members.
Prof. Suresh expressed deep gratitude, emphasising the donation’s impact on VHS’s ability to provide advanced care to more patients. This marks the second major donation by the Rotary Club to VHS this Rotary year, reaffirming its dedication to supporting community healthcare.
