Starting July 1, 2025, citizens can now receive updates and information about food safety directly via WhatsApp by messaging 94440 42322. This ‘WhatsApp Chatbot’ service is designed to provide timely and accurate details about food regulations, hygiene standards, and consumer rights in a simple and accessible manner.

Alongside this, the revamped TN Food Safety Consumer App is now live on app stores. The app enables users to:

  • Report food safety concerns or complaints
  • Learn about safe food handling and storage practices
  • Access government circulars and awareness materials
  • Stay updated with blog posts and campaigns by the Food Safety Department

Consumers and food business operators alike are encouraged to use the new features for complaints, queries, and awareness building. For those unable to access WhatsApp or the mobile app, assistance is also available via email at [email protected].
