Department of Posts Integrates Registered and Speed Post for Faster Delivery

The Department of Posts has announced a major reform to its mail operations by integrating the processing of both Registered Post and Speed Post items. This move aims to streamline sorting infrastructure, improve delivery timelines, and optimise logistical resources.

The integration is expected to enhance backend efficiency and reduce transit delays. While both services are accountable, a key difference remains in their delivery protocols. Registered Post is addressee-specific, requiring delivery to the named recipient, while Speed Post is address-specific, allowing delivery to any person at the provided address.

Under the new framework, customers will continue to enjoy the benefits of registration within Speed Post. Items booked as ‘Speed Post with registration’ will be addressee-specific. This unified service will offer premium Speed Post features, including:

  • End-to-end online tracking
  • Real-time delivery updates
  • OTP-based secure delivery
  • Cash on Delivery (COD) services
  • Credit facility and volume-based discounts
  • National Account Facility for corporate customers

The integration promises to deliver better connectivity and a more efficient service across the postal network.
