The campaign for emergency response training gained significant momentum as the IIT Madras Department of Management Studies (DOMS), in association with SAMANVAY, successfully organised the ALERTATHON Campus Edition at the IIT Madras campus.
The run, which mobilised over 700 participants, including students, faculty, and off-campus runners, aimed to evangelise the cause of empowering the common man in emergency response.
The impact-driven event was flagged off by chief guest V. Shankar, Director of Acsys Investments and a distinguished IIT Madras alumnus. He praised the institution for supporting the life-saving cause.
V. M. Muralidharan, Chairman of ALERT, reaffirmed the NGO’s commitment to achieving the goal set by Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam: to train one person in every family in emergency response. The event included a crucial CPR Experience zone by ALERT, offering all runners the opportunity to learn this basic life skill.
Rajesh Trivedi, Co-Founder of ALERT, expressed gratitude to the IIT Madras team, envisioning that the ALERTATHON will evolve into a sustained student-led movement, building an India where Community First Response is a civic responsibility.
