Dream India plunges into cyclone Michaung relief work

Dream India team – armed with a WhatsApp group of 400 plus members formed in 2 days – and with 50 plus active ground volunteers – responded to the relief work of Cyclone Michaung in Chennai. Collaborating with other partners, the Dream India team served close to 5000 families affected by the flood.

The relief work was done in the form of – Rescue, Relief, Rehabilitation and Revival of livelihood. The volunteers of the team personally braved the flood and heavy rain to rescue many elders and moved them to safety. Relief work was done in the form of food packet distribution in 1000s, bed sheets, milk, biscuits, bread, bun, sanitary pads, noodles packets etc.

Dream India team ensured coverage across Chennai and special focus was given to ostracised brick kiln families, unmingled gypsy people, visually, physically and mentally challenged people and their families, orphanage homes, homes for pets & vets and flooded slums.

The Dream India team also thanked actor Madhavan for tweeting about their efforts due to which close to 5000 people could connect with the Dream India team for help and guidance. They also thanked the members of the Indian army and navy and the Tamil Nadu police for their yeomen service and supporting them, “Many of the rescue and relief work could be done easily only because of them. Our sincere thanks to all our well-wishers, partner organisations, friends and various good-hearted common people who stood by us and helped us serve the people of Chennai.”
