CURI Hospital, Thoraipakkam, on Sep.20, hosted a live surgery workshop as part of TAPASUCON (Tamilnadu Pondicherry Association of Urologists Annual Conference). The theme was Robotic Surgery and Innovations in Urology.
Director of CURI Hospital and Consultant Robotic Surgeon, Dr. Ananthakrishnan Sivaraman and his team spearheaded the workshop and academic sessions under the guidance of the Organising Chairman, Dr.P.B.Sivaraman.
It was a one-of-a-kind workshop with three live robotic surgeries demonstrated including first live demonstration of a new modality for the treatment of benign prostates, transperineal prostate biopsies and ThuFLEP – laser prostate treatment. Young urologists and post-graduates were also trained in MRI reading and ultrasound equipment, apart from trying their hands at Robotics in the experience centre and simulators.
This was followed by two days of academic sessions at ITC Grand Chola where national and international faculty shared their experience and knowledge. This conference was organised under the aegis of TAPASU and MUS and had a record number of registrations.
