“A meaningful conversation that places value on unique approaches to literature, paves the way for a thriving learning community,” said a spokesperson from Bookmark Lending Library as they kick-started their first ‘Tamil Club’ group discussion.
This initiative was organised by the Library after many of its Tamil reading members expressed an interest in a common platform where readers could gather together to discuss books/genres based on their reading interests.
The first meet happened on Aug.18 at a park in AGS Colony, Kottivakkam. The topic for the first meeting was ‘My favourite books and authors’. More than 23 members from different age groups joined the discussion. It was heartening to see active participation from youngsters, including some first-time Tamil readers. The library is planning to host such sessions every month. All are welcome. Membership is not mandatory for participation. The library offers lifetime membership starting at just Rs.500 and has 10,000+ Tamil, English and Children’s books. Visit www.ecrbooklibrary.com for more details.
