In the recently concluded Special Olympics World Games in Berlin, Germany, 22 years old Dinesh Kumar Shanmugam, pursuing his final year collegiate education won two silver medals in 50 metres Breaststroke and 25*4 relay in swimming.
Dinesh is the alumni of The Spastics Society of Tamil Nadu, Taramani. He completed his secondary education from the classroom program supported by Tech Mahindra Foundation and senior secondary from NIOS in SPASTN.
In his early years he was considered as hyperactive and aggressive which became the reasons for his exit from many schools. The very high energy level of Dinesh was diverted to swimming after he joined SPASTN. The tireless efforts of his parents has seen him as an Olympics champion today.
