Chennai Freemasons, under The Regional Grand Lodge of Southern India, enthusiastically celebrated Mother’s Day on May 18. Distinguished guests included RW Regional Grandmaster RW Bro. T.N. Manoharan and MW Bro. Captain Dr. Balram Biswakumar.

The event honoured six inspiring women leading highly acclaimed NGOs. They were recognised for their sacrifices and “never say die” spirit in caring for various inhabitants, including the speech and hearing impaired, differently-abled, juvenile children, and those in hospice care.

Additionally, four remarkable mothers were celebrated. Despite financial and emotional difficulties, they wonderfully raised children who now excel in fields like the Indian Armed Forces, farming, and restaurant ownership. Their shared stories deeply moved the audience of over 100 members, leaving them spellbound and motivated.

Chief guest T.N. Manoharan eloquently spoke on how mothers are pivotal in moulding their sons into “Good Men,” drawing a parallel to how the Freemasonry Movement, focused on brotherhood, helps “Good Men” become “Better.”

The gathering concluded with a sumptuous lunch arranged by the Chennai Freemasons.

The recipients were:

  • Dr.Republica Sridhar – RMD Group of hospitals
  • P.C.Rafiya – Director Anbagam
  • Dr.Arokiamary – Principal Anbalaya
  • Rani Krishnan – Annai Fathima Trust
  • N.Umamaheswari – Supdt. Children Welfare
  • Dr.P.Thayarammal – Thaaikarangal Charitable Trust
  • P.Manimozhi – Vandavasi Organic Farmers Group
