The Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) has made it mandatory for pet owners within its limits to obtain a pet license, as stipulated under Section 292 of the Urban Local Bodies Act, 1998, Rules 2023. To streamline this process, the GCC, introduced an upgraded online portal in October. 

To facilitate compliance, GCC has been providing free microchipping and Anti-Rabies Vaccination services at six designated pet treatment centres as well.

To further assist pet owners in meeting the deadline, special camps offering these free services are scheduled for the upcoming Sundays: Nov.16 and Nov.23, from 8 am to 5 pm at the six treatment centres and at the Sholinganallur Dog Birth Control Centre in South Chennai.GCC Free Pet Treatment Centres: Tiruvika Nagar (Zone-6), Pulianthope (Zone-6), Lloyds Colony (Zone-9), Nungambakkam (Zone-9), Kannamma Pettai (Zone-10), Meenambakkam (Zone-12).
