Conservancy Staff Hailed as Hero for Daring Sea Rescue

A 12-year-old boy was rescued from the sea at Elliot’s Beach on Aug.20 morning in a courageous act by a conservancy staff.

The incident occurred around 11 am when the boy, who was playing near the shore, was accidentally carried into the sea by a sudden wave. Balakrishnan, a sweeper with Chennai Enviro Sol Pvt Ltd, saw the boy in distress and immediately dived into the water.

In a swift and heroic effort, Balakrishnan reached the boy and brought him safely back to the shore, saving his life. “I was playing when a sudden wave pulled me in. Had anna not rescued me, I would have died,” recalled the boy after being rescued and thanking Balakrishnan, while the staff consoled him.
