Dr.Raja Rathinam, a resident of Adyar, was on Dec.14 honoured with the International Dairy Professional Award, for his service to the dairy farmers and dairy industry, by the Vice Chancellor of TamilNadu Veterinary and Animal Science, in the presence of the Vice Chancellor, Periyar University at Salem. This Award was initiated by the Indian Dairy Association- Tamilnadu Chapter, Chennai.
He was also recognised with the Life Time Achievement Award by the Dairy Connect Organisation, at Erode on Dec.15.
While accepting the awards, Dr.Raja Rathinam urged people to drink milk as it is one of the best sources of calcium. He also requested the dairy farmers to bring pride to this state by producing more milk as Tamilnadu ranks 11th in milk production, while Uttar Pradesh is 1st. He also proposed that the government provide dairy farmers with better infrastructure, as was suggested by former Deputy Chairman of Tamilnadu Planning Commission – Shanta Sheela Nair, IAS.
