In a quiet corner of Adyar, a vibrant new space is weaving together centuries of tradition with threads of culture, artistry, and heritage. House of Tuhil, Shastri Nagar, Adyar is fast becoming a sanctuary for connoisseurs of South Indian handlooms.

Tuhil’s newly launched studio offers a collection of handwoven sarees, fabrics, and textiles. The studio celebrates a diverse range of weaving traditions — from the lustrous Kanchipuram silks to the lightweight Koorainadu silk cottons, woven on their own looms; all under one roof.
“What we offer is not just a product, but a piece of history and cultural continuity,” say S.Jayakumar and Varsha Kumar, founders of Tuhil. “Our mission is to support artisan communities while giving modern audiences access to timeless, traditional, sustainable fashion that has an unbroken history of 2000-years,” they add.
The studio is open from 11 am to 8.30 pm daily, except Tuesdays, and is designed as more than just a retail space — it’s an experience. Visitors are encouraged to explore the textures, colors, and narratives that define the region’s textile heritage.
