All the IndiGo ATR departures with flight numbers (7000 to 7999) will operate from Domestic Terminal 4 (T4 ) with effect from 1st June, 2025. However, all arrivals including ATR operations will continue to operate from Terminal 1 (T1).
This arrangement is planned to mitigate the congestion issues during the critical phase of the capacity enhancement works being undertaken in the operational area of Chennai Airport.
Meanwhile The Central Board of Indirect Taxes & Customs (CBIC) has introduced ‘Atithi@Indian Customs’, a new mobile application designed to simplify customs declarations for international travelers. This state-of-the-art app allows passengers to file baggage, item, and currency declarations digitally even before arriving at Indian airports.
Developed to enhance digital governance, Atithi aims to significantly reduce customs processing times and ease the arrival experience. Available on both iOS and Android, the app promotes pre-clearance, fostering faster, hassle-free customs clearance and boosting transparency. When the passengers arrive at the destination country, they can be cleared fast and be allowed to proceed through without any unnecessary delays. They can also be treated as domestic passengers in specific cases. Users can sign up with basic passport details and manage their declarations for a more efficient journey.
The Indian airports are also promoting the use of Digiyatra, an initiative that uses facial verification technology to make terminal entry & security clearance at the airport a seamless, hassle-free, and paperless process. Digi Yatra is a decentralised mobile-based platform for digital travel credentials where air travellers can save their IDs and travel documents. Introduced by the Ministry of Civil Aviation (MOCA) and the Digi Yatra Foundation, this platform enables the automatic digital processing of flyers with the benefit of reduced wait time making the boarding process faster and more seamless.
