Kamaraj Nagar West residents honour civic workers

The ‘Podhigai’ Residents Welfare Association of Thiruvanmiyur Kamaraj Nagar (West) held a grand felicitation ceremony on Apr.27, at the Kamaraj Nagar West Park to honour dedicated corporation workers, electricity board (EB) personnel, and the corporation park watchman and his wife.

The event was presided over by Justice V. Bharathidasan, retired Judge of the Madras High Court and Chairman of the Tamil Nadu Backward Classes Commission (TNBCC). Subashini Durai, Councillor of Ward 173, and a Traffic Inspector, also graced the occasion, where around 100 residents participated.

President of the association Thanigachalam, welcomed the gathering. Secretary Manimaran provided an overview of the association’s activities. The chief guests distributed new clothes to the workers as a token of gratitude.

Councillor Subashini spoke about upcoming improvements and amenities planned for the colony’s welfare in the coming months. Chief Guest Justice Bharathidasan highlighted the urgent need to regulate traffic congestion at the 2nd Main Road – L.B. Road – 3rd Main Road junction, emphasising the importance of deploying traffic personnel during peak hours. He also suggested enhancing safety within the colony through the installation of more surveillance cameras and urged the Corporation to promote a greener environment by planting native tree saplings along all roads. Kothandaraman delivered the vote of thanks.
