Mangayarkarasi Magalir Mandram organised a lively jumble sale on Sept.20, drawing enthusiastic participation from the community. The sale featured festive-season essentials, including trendy clothes, home utilities, and accessories.
Adding a meaningful dimension to the event, the Residents of Kasturba Nagar Association (ROKA) conducted an awareness session on solid waste management at homes and urging residents to segregate waste, adopt alternatives to single use plastics and practice eco-friendly habits.
Sustainability took center stage with Wasted 360 Solutions, which showcased upcycled items, thrift store apparel, and eco-products made from flower waste such as soaps and detergents. They also led a waste collection drive, successfully diverting 645 kg of waste—including 332 kg of clothes—towards recycling.
Archana Ramasundaram, IPS, President of the Mandram, addressed the community, encouraging everyone to practice waste segregation at home to contribute to a healthier environment.
