On Mar.2, a ‘Dramathon’ was conducted by Marina Theatres at Mylapore Fine Arts Club staging 6 plays continuously for 1.5 hours. These plays were selected in the drama competition named ‘Ten Ally’ conducted by Marina Theatres in July 2023 and staged at ‘Medai’ Sabha at Alwarpet.

One of the plays in the Dramathon, ‘Nasiga Churanam’, a comedy play, has been written by Thiruvanmiyur writer Revathy Balu. Revathy Balu is the eldest daughter of erstwhile playwright Rasavadhi, who has written several plays for actor V.S.Raghavan’s INA theatres.

The story of the play ‘Nasiga Churanam’ involves an old man Annasamy, living in an apartment and is forced to receive couriers of Amazon and other products meant for all the others living in the flats in the building since he is the lone man who happens to be at home throughout the day in the building. Annasamay is in the habit of using ‘Nasiga Churanam’ (he calls the famous ‘mookkuppodi’ by that name). Since couriers keep coming, he is not able to go out to buy his favourite ‘Nasiga Churanam’. Finally, fully frustrated since he is not able to go out of the house, he wants to know whether he can get ‘Nasiga Churanam’ through courier.

Binny K.Ramachandran, aged 92, a veteran drama actor, acting for more than 70 years, also a resident of Thiruvanmiyur, acted as Annasamy in this play and won great applause from the audience for his energetic and humorous act. The other actors are Girish, Raghav, Arvind and Nivedita. This play is directed by Girish and music by Rahul.
