Visankirtali Trust, founded by V.P.Sastrigal in 1969, recently concluded its 27th Lakshmi Narasimha Jayanthi Utsavam, on May 13 and 14, at Anantha Padmanabhaswamy Temple. 

The divine Namasankirtanam was concluded by Sampradaya Seetha Kalyanam and Lakshmi Nrusimha Kalyanam by Delhi Shri Shankar Bhagavathar. The Trust also honoured  Ramachandran of Annamaliyar Arapanikuzhu, recognizing his yeoman service in reviving dilapidated temples across Tamil Nadu. Vummidi Prashanth, Managing Director of Prakruthi Vummidi Bangaru Store, Adyar presided over the honouring function as the chief guest. The Visankirtali Trust also expressed its gratitude by honouring Vummidi Prashanth, recognising his contribution towards CSR activities.

Other eminent people who attended the the event include: Dr.N.Raghu – Director of Doordarshan (Podhigai), Srimushnam Raja Rao, Thanjavur Thyagaraja Bhagavathar, Cuddalore Gopi Bhagavathar and Mahadevan Bhagavathar. Annadhanam was organised for thousands of bhaktas. The Visankirtali Trust usually conducts the Utsavam, spread over three days in a grandeur with eminent Bhagavatas and Upanyasa exponents.

Adyar Times was established in Chennai in the year 1993, founded by Mr.S.P.Ambrose, IAS (Retd.). The concept of a newspaper for the neighbourhood was a novel idea then. The English weekly (Sunday) now boasts a circulation of 42000 copies with an average of 16 pages per issue.
