Koothapiran Navabharath Theatres inaugurated its new play ‘Surukku Pai’ by Ratnam Koothapiran, at the Kodai Nataka Vizha this year. The play won several accolades and awards. Swathi Sridhar won the special prize (1st) as an actor while Ratnam Koothapiran won second place as the Best Comedy Actor at the Vizha. Kodai Nataka Vizha is an annual event conducted by Karthik Fine Arts, Mylapore, celebrating drama and its artistes. This year 12 drama theaters inaugurated their shows at the event.
