New anganwadi centre opens in Thazhambur

A newly constructed Anganwadi Centre, located on Karanei Main Road in Thazhambur Panchayat, was officially handed over for public use on June 26.

Valued at ₹21 lakhs, the centre was a joint effort between the Rotary Club of Madras and the Raj Charitable Foundation, established to promote child welfare and community development.

The handover ceremony featured Rtn. Mehul Uday Nanavati of Raj Charitable Foundation, as the chief guest, who lauded efforts for child welfare. He was joined by Rotary Club of Madras President Rtn. Sella Krishna, Secretary Rtn. Rajesh Manir, and Project Chair Rtn. Aravind Kumar Shankar, alongside local panchayat dignitaries.

Implemented under the guidance of Child Development Projects Officer Poomnima and constructed by ExNoRa International Foundation, the centre is expected to provide a nurturing environment and quality early education.

Adyar Times was established in Chennai in the year 1993, founded by Mr.S.P.Ambrose, IAS (Retd.). The concept of a newspaper for the neighbourhood was a novel idea then. The English weekly (Sunday) now boasts a circulation of 42000 copies with an average of 16 pages per issue.
