April 13
- Thoraipakkam police initiated action against a juvenile (17 year old) for stealing a two-wheeler. A resident of Kandanchavadi, Chennai, had parked his Yamaha R15 two-wheeler near his house, and the next morning discovered that it had been stolen. The stolen two-wheeler was recovered.
- The Aminjikarai police arrested two auto drivers for threatening their passengers and robbing cash through G-Pay. A man from Jharkhand, along with his four friends, boarded two autos from Chennai Central Railway Station to travel to Maduravoyal. While passing through Aminjikarai, the two auto drivers teamed up, threatened the five passengers, and forcibly collected ₹3,800 from them via GPay. After taking the money, the drivers dropped them off and fled the scene. The two autos and 2 mobile phones were seized.
- The Vanagaram police arrested a person for transporting banned Gutka tobacco products on a two-wheeler. 15 Kgs Gutka tobacco products and 1 two-wheeler were seized.
- The CMBT police arrested a person for threatening and assaulting a person and robbing cash from him. A man working in Ambattur was waiting at the Koyambedu bus terminal at night to travel to his hometown. While waiting, three individuals approached him, threatened, assaulted and robbed ₹32,000 from him before fleeing the scene. The team initiated action against a juvenile concerned in this case. Cash recovered.
- Maduravoyal police arrested a person for stealing cash from a locked bakery shop. A resident of Alapakkam, who runs a sweets and bakery shop in Thirumurugan Nagar, locked his shop on Apr.11 night. When he returned the next morning, he found that the lock had been broken and that cash, a DVR, and an employee’s mobile phone had been stolen. Cash, DVR and mobile phone were recovered.
April 14
- The Ice House police arrested two persons for possessing Methamphetamine. 2.5 Grams Methamphetamine, 2 mobile phones, 1 two-wheeler and 1 weighing machine were recovered.
- The Otteri police arrested a person for assaulting an auto driver and damaging the mirrors of two autos and a two-wheeler. A resident of Purasaiwalkam (an auto driver) was standing outside his house when he saw a man from the opposite house arguing and verbally abusing his family using inappropriate language. When the auto driver questioned him about the disturbance, the man assaulted him, broke the glass of his auto, then went on to break the windshield of his father-in-law’s auto and the mirror of a nearby two-wheeler, and fled the scene after issuing death threats.
- The Tondiarpet police arrested two individuals for assaulting a kulfi ice seller and robbing his mobile phone and cash. On the night of Apr.11, while a kulfi ice cream vendor was selling in the Tondiarpet area, three individuals on a two-wheeler approached him asking for kulfi, then assaulted him and robbed him of his mobile phone and ₹600 in cash before fleeing the scene. The team arrested the two individuals and initiated action against a juvenile concerned in this case. The mobile phone was recovered.
- Thiruvanmiyur police arrested a person for misbehaving with a woman. On Apr.5 night, a woman residing in the Thiruvanmiyur area of Chennai was walking along Srinivasa Nagar Main Road in Thiruvanmiyur when a man on a two-wheeler approached her and behaved obscenely before fleeing the scene on his vehicle. His two-wheeler and mobile phone were seized.
- Basin Bridge police arrested a person for intercepting a woman, assaulting her and threatening her during a quarrel. A woman from the Pulianthope area in Chennai was walking near Modilal Nehru Street when an unknown man called out to her. Frightened, she ignored him and continued walking. The man then blocked her path, assaulted her, and spoke to her using obscene language. When the woman shouted for help, nearby members of the public rushed to the spot, apprehended the man, and handed him over to the police.
- J.J.Nagar police arrested a person for assaulting the Health Inspector and threatening to murder him with a knife. While the Greater Chennai Corporation Health Department Inspector was monitoring and taking action along with Corporation staff against those using plastic bags in the J.J. Nagar area, it was found that plastic bags were being used on a pushcart. When they attempted to seize the plastic bags, the owner of the pushcart verbally abused them, obstructed them from performing their duties, physically assaulted them, and threatened them with a knife from a nearby shop.
April 15
- On Apr.14 at around 5 pm, a case was registered against a father and son for allegedly getting into an altercation with a traffic police officer who was regulating traffic near Ambedkar Grounds on Gandhi Road, Velachery. Both the father and son involved in the incident were immediately arrested.
- The Zam Bazaar police arrested a person for quarrelling and assaulting 2 persons, including the fast food shop owner, under the influence of alcohol.
- The Vepery police arrested a person for stealing a racing bicycle. On the morning of Feb.14, a resident of Choolai, had parked his racing bicycle in front of his house and was engaged in conversation when an individual came by, stole the bicycle, and fled the scene. The man, with the help of the public, caught the thief and handed him over to the police. The stolen bicycle was recovered.
- The K.K.Nagar police arrested a person for stealing a mobile phone from a two-wheeler. On Apr.9 evening, when a person from Virugambakkam parked his two-wheeler in front of his house, he forgot and left his cell phone in the front compartment. When he came back later and checked, he found that someone had stolen the cell phone.
- The Chintadripet police initiated action against a juvenile for assaulting a person and robbing cash from him. A two-wheeler was seized. On Apr.13 morning, when a person from the Mogappair was traveling on Anna Salai on a two-wheeler, 5 two-wheelers approached him as if to collide with him. When he immediately shouted, some people who came on the two-wheelers stopped him, spoke abusively, assaulted him with their hands, and snatched ₹10,800/- that he had, and fled.
- Maduravoyal police arrested a person for sexually harassing a woman, assaulting and verbally abusing her. A woman from Koyambedu was returning home from a shop when a man residing near her house spoke obscenely, physically assaulted and sexually harassed her. When her son came to stop him, he threatened him with a knife and issued death threats before fleeing.
- Chennai Police Commissioner A.Arun, IPS, congratulated and rewarded the special team of police officers who arrested 17 individuals, including 8 people from Nigeria and Sudan, in a case involving the sale of narcotics in Triplicane.
- The North Beach police arrested a person for stealing mobile phone and cash. A resident of Broadway had consumed alcohol at a TASMAC outlet on the afternoon of Apr.12 and fell asleep nearby. When he woke up in the evening, he realized that ₹3,000 in cash and his mobile phone, which were in his pocket, had been stolen.The stolen mobile phone was recovered.
- The Sastri Nagar police arrested two individuals for cheating ₹80 lakh by fraudulently promising to register a property. A resident of T.Nagar was approached by an individual who claimed to be working as a real estate broker. The broker introduced a plot of land in Adyar, stating it was available for sale. He also introduced the alleged owner of the property, and a price of ₹90 lakhs was agreed upon. He further stated that the land documents were under mortgage and collected ₹80 lakhs from the buyer, later demanding an additional ₹70 lakhs to complete the registration process.
- On Nov.18, 2011, two individuals were arrested in connection with a murder case that occurred within the jurisdiction of the Palavanthangal police station. While the case was under trial, one of the accused, who had been released on bail, failed to appear for the court proceedings and went absconding. Thus, the Kanchipuram court issued an arrest warrant on July 6, 2023. A special team led by the inspector of the Palavanthangal police station successfully arrested the absconding accused.
- On June 1, 2019, four individuals were arrested in connection with a robbery case at the Ice House police station. While the case was ongoing in court, the individuals, who were released on bail, failed to appear for court hearings and had been absconding. Thus, the court issued arrest warrants for them on Apr.9, 2025. The Ice House police arrested the four individuals.
- The Maduravoyal police station inspector was monitoring the area behind a college in Maduravoyal and arrested a person who was secretly selling painkillers illegally. 76 tablets and 7 syringes were seized from him.
- The Zambazar police station inspector monitoring the area near the Zambazar, Devaraj Street, and J.J. Khan Road junction arrested a person who possessed painkillers illegally. 64 tablets and 2 syringes were seized from him.
Apr.16
- The Sembium police arrested a person for stealing silver pooja items and a mobile phone from a house at midnight. 300 Grams silver pooja items were recovered.
- The Arumbakkam police arrested a person for sexually harassing a woman. A woman residing in Periyamedu, Chennai, reported that a security guard at her workplace had been sexually harassing her for the past 4 months by speaking to her with double-meaning intentions, following her, verbally abusing and threatening her.
- The Thoraipakkam police arrested a person involved in snatching a mobile phone. On Apr.12, when a person from the Choolaimedu was standing near the Sholinganallur toll booth, 2 people who came on a two-wheeler pretended to ask for directions, snatched the cell phone he was holding, pushed him down, and fled on the two-wheeler. The mobile phone was recovered.
- On Apr.30, 2022, in a dispute in Thiruvanmiyur, an accused was arrested for fatally attacking 2 people with a knife. The Court found the accused guilty and sentenced him to 2 life imprisonments along with a fine of ₹10,000.
- On Sep.5, 2024, in Kodambakkam, 2 individuals were arrested for causing disturbance at a juice shop, damaging the shop, threatening with a knife, and extorting money. The court found the accused guilty and sentenced them to 3 months’ imprisonment.
April 17

- The St.Thomas Mount police arrested a person for damaging the front glass of an auto with a stone during a quarrel. A person and his wife were sitting and talking in front of their house at St. Thomas Mount, they had a verbal dispute with a person from the same area. In the dispute, that person damaged the front windshield of the auto parked outside the house with a stone and fled from there.
- The Ice House police arrested three people for for robbing an elderly man. Cash recovered. On Apr.15, when a person residing at Triplicane was counting the money, three people who came on a two-wheeler snatched the money he was holding and fled.
- The Immoral Traffic Prevention Unit has arrested two women for running a prostitution ring in a house. 3 women were rescued. Based on information received a special team secretly monitored a house in Vidya Nagar, Ponniyammanmedu, Kolathur, and confirmed that prostitution was taking place there. Search was conducted in the house and two cell phones were seized from them. Additionally, three women, who were being held there for engaging in prostitution, were rescued.
- The Kodungaiyur police arrested two individuals for robbing a kulfi ice seller with a knife. Cash and a two-wheeler were seized. On the night of Apr.13, when a person was selling kulfi ice cream on a bicycle on GNT Road, Erukkancheri, Kodungaiyur, two people who came on a two-wheeler stopped him, threatened him with a knife, and demanded money. When he shouted, they instead stole the money that was unknowingly kept in his bicycle and fled from there.
- The Royapuram police has arrested a histroy sheeter for robbing money from a person. On Apr.16, a rickshaw puller residing in Kasimedu was driving his rickshaw at the Royapuram, Pichandi Street junction, when a person stopped him, spoke abusively, physically assaulted him, and snatched the money from his shirt pocket before fleeing.
- The Central Crime Branch has arrested two individuals for cheating an amount of ₹90,77,800 in online trading. The complainant, without verifying the credibility of the website and lured by the promise of high profits, transferred a total of ₹90,77,800 to various fake bank accounts in a bogus online trading investment scheme. During the investigation, the Cyber Crime Police Station, Central Crime Branch, arrested two individuals involved in the fraud. Upon further inquiry, it was discovered that the money obtained through the online trading investment fraud was converted into cryptocurrency using the Binance app, and the accused received a commission of up to 25 percent.
- The New Washermenpet police arrested four individuals in a case of money theft from a woman via G-pay. The team initiated action against a juvenile concerned in this case. A woman residing in Puduvannarapettai was talking to a man at her home on the night of Apr.3 when some individuals from the same area locked the house from the outside, verbally abused and threatened her, and extorted ₹5000 from her through G-pay.

April 18
- The Anna Nagar police arrested a person for selling lottery tickets. Cash and slips of paper were seized from him.
- The Central Crime Branch arrested a person for cheating people by promising government jobs, collecting ₹75 lakhs, and issuing fake appointment letters. The complainant stated that an individual claimed to have good connections with high-ranking Tamil Nadu government officials and offered to secure government jobs through these connections. The accused allegedly received ₹75,00,000 in cash from the complainant but failed to provide the promised job, thus deceiving them.
- The Immoral Traffic Prevention Unit arrested a person for running a prostitution ring in a house in Jafferkhanpet. Two women were rescued. Based on information received by the Anti-Vice Squad-2 (Immoral Traffic Prevention Unit-2), the team secretly monitored a house located on Pachaiyappan Street in Jafferkhanpettai on the afternoon of Apr.16, and confirmed that prostitution was being carried out at the premises.
- The Teynampet arrested two persons in a cell phone theft case. Two cell phones and an auto seized. A resident of Nachiyappan Street, Mylapore, went to the TASMAC liquor shop on Thiruvalluvar Salai in Teynampet on the night of Apr.11. Upon exiting, he discovered that the mobile phone he had kept in his trouser pocket was missing, indicating it had been stolen.
- The Hon’ble Egmore Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court fined ₹20,00,000 on Kotak Mahindra Bank, Saral Loan Division, Chennai, for embezzling ₹14,00,000 from a person who had refunded the bank loan amount. A resident of Chennai mortgaged his house with M/s. Kotak Mahindra Bank Limited, Saral Auto Loans, Chennai branch in 2006 and obtained a bank loan of ₹1.50 crore. In 2007, he paid ₹1.7 crore to the bank as foreclosure. In 2018, the complainant stated that the manager had wrongfully deducting an excess amount of ₹14,30,510 from the repaid loan amount. The court delivered a judgment imposing a total fine of ₹20,00,000 on the bank. Out of this amount, ₹10,00,000 was ordered to be paid as compensation to the complainant, and the remaining ₹10,00,000 was directed to be paid to the court as a penalty.
- The Mambalam police has arrested an ex-employee for assaulting a Pothys Traditional Shop employee with a knife due to previous enmity. Due to previous animosity, the former employee engaged in a verbal argument with a current employee at the T.Nagar store. Suddenly, the former employee took out a concealed knife and attacked the current employee, resulting in cut injuries to the fingers of the Pothys staff member.
- The St.Thomas Mount police arrested a person for stealing an iPhone and a laptop from a house. The stolen property has been recovered. A resident of St. Thomas Mount went to sleep at his home on the night of Apr.16. The next morning, he woke up to find that his iPhone and laptop had been stolen.
- The Thiruvanmiyur police arrested two people, in the state of Tripura, who came to clean the bathroom of a house and stole 30 sovereigns of gold jewelry. A resident of an apartment complex in the Thiruvanmiyur registered through an online application to have their house bathroom cleaned on Apr.7. Around noon, two individuals went to the house, cleaned the bathroom, and then left. Later, when the resident checked the jewelry in the room’s wardrobe, it was discovered that gold jewelry weighing approximately 30 sovereigns, including a gold chain, necklace, and earrings, had been stolen.
