Kottur Villa Owners Welfare Association (KVOWA), celebrated Pongal at their campus with many competitions - kolam, pot painting etc., for kids and women. They also conducted a ‘Gau’ pooja on their campus. The Pongal celebrations at KGEYES Eternity, Parvathi Street, Kalakshetra Colony, Besant Nagar, brought together residents in a spirit of unity and festivity. From traditional Pongal pot decorations to vibrant cultural performances, the community showcased the richness of our cultural diversity. Families joined hands in preparing delicious Pongal dishes, fostering a sense of camaraderie. Thiruvalluvar Nagar Youth Club, Besant Nagar organized a grand pongal celebration. Many young people and kids actively participated in these activities, thereby creating a more social environment. They also organised many talent display activities like Thirukkural recitation, drawing, singing, dance, kolam and sports competitions and encouraged them with lots of prizes. Chithkala Nursery and Primary School celebrated Pongal with the children of the school. Pongal was celebrated at Saraswathi Venkataraman School on Jan.12. Traditional way of Pongal celebrations like kolattam and kummiattam and speeches about Pongal celebration were presented by the students. Rangoli competitions were conducted for the girls and prizes were distributed. The students brought colourful pots and models of the sugarcane and arranged them along with rangoli, which gave a festive look to our school. SEED Adyar celebrated Pongal with a traditional bullock cart ride and fun activities for children, at school. Indira Nagar Women's Association celebrated Pongal on Jan.9 at their premises. A ‘Pinnal’ kolam competition was held in which members participated with enthusiasm. They also entertained the audience with a kummi and kolattam, sang Pongal songs, and conducted team games. Members worshipped Sun God by offering sarkarai pongal. Appayya Dikshitha Foundation (ADF), Kottivakkam, as part of the Pongal festival, distributed Pongal gift hampers to the underprivileged people, on Jan.10. The hamper contained rice bags, dals, edible oil and all other essentials, besides new sarees, dhoties, towels and other readymade dresses. The recipients include conservancy workers, roadside sweepers, flower and vegetable vendors etc. Adyar Vyabarigal Sangam conducted community Pongal celebrations on Jan.11. They conducted many fun games as part of the celebrations apart from ponga pannai and feeding the cow.
